EVERY STORY HAS A BEGINNING

Kimi Runna is a Melbourne-based band brought to life through a cast of animated characters, blending music, visual storytelling and the experiences that connect us all.

At the heart of the project is a fascination with the relationships that shape who we become: the people who stand beside us through uncertainty, the conversations left unfinished and the quiet ways we show up for one another, even when we struggle to express what's really on our minds.

Drawing inspiration from lived experiences, Kimi Runna explores themes of connection, belonging and the moments that exist between who we are and who we're trying to become. The songs don't seek to provide answers, but instead reflect the complexities of friendship, distance and the comfort of knowing that someone is there, even in silence.

The band's debut album, Exotica, brings these ideas to life through a collection of stories set against unfamiliar places and shifting emotions. While each track offers a different perspective, they are all tied together by a shared belief: that the people around us often understand more than we realise.

Behind the animation is a collective of musicians and collaborators, each contributing their own voice to the world of Kimi Runna. On stage, the project expands beyond the music alone, combining live performance with visual elements to create an experience that is both intimate and immersive.
